IT'S ABOUT TIME PRESENTS: The Real Time Show / Crispin "Mr" Jones Airs A Philosophical Perspective On Watchmaking
The newsletter and podcast are part of the same network
For more than a year now, this newsletter has actually been part of The Real Time Show network — I’ve just done a poor job of telling you that. The Real Time Show is a weekly watchmaking podcast founded by Alon Ben Joseph and Rob Nudds, now hosted by them along with Scarlett Baker and David Vaucher.
What they’ve built is genuinely impressive. Not only are we working together to grow this network — with me handling the newsletter side of things — but TRTS has also created a vibrant community of watchmaking enthusiasts.
We’re tightening the integration with the network. If you’re a podcast person, I know you’ll enjoy this one. Now, every Sunday — when new episodes typically drop — you’ll receive a short email with the latest installment in your inbox.
I hope you end up loving it as much as I do.

Crispin "Mr" Jones Airs A Philosophical Perspective On Watchmaking
Grab a watch box, throw in it an AP Royal Oak, a GP Laureato, a Zenith Defy Skyline, a Baume & Mercier Riviera, a Nivada Grenchen F77 and a Christopher Ward The Twelve and look at them from a bit of a distance. Despite the wild variations in price, and at a quick glance, you’ll be hard pressed to distinguish among them with 100% certainty.
If, on the other hand, you put a watch from Mr Jones into any watch box, you will almost certainly be able to pick it out from the lineup. That’s because Mr Jones watches are uniquely creative, not just unlike anything else on the market, but there are no two similar Mr Jones watches among the bunch.
And there’s good reason for that — Crispin Jones, the founder of Mr. Jones Watches, did not begin his career as a traditional watchmaker. In fact, his background lies in fine art, specifically sculpture. The TRTS team sits down with Jones to discuss how his exploration of creative uses of technology, after earning a BA in fine art and a master's degree in computer-related design from the Royal College of Art, led to the creation of one of the most most creative brands in the market.
