NOMOS Glashütte Gives The Club A New 38mm Case
I've always been a fan of the NOMOS Club Campus: a California dial, loud colors and a very comfortable case. But not everyone loves the loud appearance of the Club Campus. No worries, as NOMOS has the Club, which drops the wild colors and California dial, but keeps the great cases. Now, NOMOS is updating the Club with a new size and two sensible colors.

The new polished steel case is 38.5mm wide and 8.4mm thick with the closed caseback, or 8.5mm with the sapphire one. Both backs screw down, and on top is a domed sapphire crystal. Water resistance is 100 meters. The bezel is wider than on most NOMOS watches, which makes the dial a little smaller and the watch look tougher. I like that. Club lugs are shorter than on the Tangente, but it will still wear a bit bigger than 38.5mm.

The dials are familiar. Ref. 769 is white silver-plated, with grey lume on the hour markers and black hands with red lume inlays. Ref. 770 is ruthenium, an anthracite grey with white numerals outlined in yellow and a bit of orange in the minute track.

Inside is the in-house hand-wound DUW 4001, used all over the Club collection. It has a 53-hour power reserve, the NOMOS swing system, a blued balance spring, and a stop-seconds function. Through the sapphire back you can see a three-quarter plate with Glashütte ribbing, perlage and blued screws, regulated in six positions. The strap is brown or black Horween shell cordovan with red or brown stitching and a 20mm lug width.

Both watches go on sale today, and they have slightly different prices. The silver Club 38 is €1,520 with a closed caseback or €1,740 with sapphire, while the ruthenium is €1,560 and €1,780, respectively. See more on the NOMOS Glashütte website.
