# Bell & Ross Sends a Spacecraft Around the Dial

Bell & Ross has turned the BR-03 into a toy again, and I mean that in the best possible way. While I will always have a soft spot for their aircraft instrument-inspired square watches, I think they really are at their best when they go all out with creative ideas, no matter how silly they are. Take, for example, their new BR-03 Space Mission, which has no hands to tell the time. Instead, you get a couple of clear discs that have the Earth, the Moon and a spaceship floating around, all there to help tell the time.

The case is black ceramic with a micro-blasted finish, 41mm wide and 10.6mm thick. On top is a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and 100 meters of water resistance. You also get the standard 100 meters of water resistance. But who cares about the case here.

It's all about the dial. The base is black aventurine with dozens of small stars. You'll also notice a small red dot, which stands in for Mars. The spacecraft is modelled on Vortex, a reusable craft Dassault Aviation has been developing, and here it's key for time telling. The disc that has the Moon painted on it uses our satellite to indicate the hours, while the nose of the Vortex points out the minutes. You’ll need a second to read the time the first few times. After that it behaves like any two-hand watch, just with more to look at.

Inside is the BR-CAL.325, an automatic built on the Sellita SW330, running at 4Hz with 54 hours of power reserve. It comes with two straps, one rubber and one synthetic fabric, both fitted with a matte black PVD pin buckle.
